22 April – 7 August 2016
The exhibition “World’s Best Communication Design 2015/2016 – Taiwanese and international highlights of the Red Dot Award” shows a selection of Taiwanese and international projects which received a prize in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2015. Among the 69 presented winners’ works from Taiwan is for example the room installation “Landscape of the Boundary” by ArchiBlur Lab which was created for the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. It comprises more than 2,000 Taiwanese bamboo sticks.
Moreover, visitors can discover works which were granted the highest individual award in the competition, the Red Dot: Grand Prix. In 2015, the Red Dot jury bestowed this award only seven times, among others upon the well-executed packaging design “This Is Not Calvados” by the Finnish agency Win Win Packaging. Further 74 happy winners were given a Red Dot: Best of the Best within the competition. The prize for top design quality honoured for example the camera app “B612 – Selfie from the Heart” by Line Corp. from Tokyo.
The exhibition of current communications trends is completed by the work which received the Red Dot: Junior Prize. The award – together with a prize money of EUR 10,000 sponsored by the software company Adobe in 2015 – for the first time went to Taiwan: Hsuan-Eng Chen and Chien-Hsing Chen from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology were honoured for their “Blind Navi” app. It works by imitating how blind people recognise streets, combining multi-sensory messages with known reference points.
